When and why did the celebration of Kashmir Solidarity Day start on February 5? This story is very interesting. Generally, there is a historical relation between the days celebrated at the national level, but perhaps February 5 is a day that is celebrated at the national level, but this day has no special relation or historical significance.

When the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan was completed in February 1989, a strange feeling overwhelmed the youth activists in liberation movements around the world.

They began to think that they, like the Afghans, could launch a liberation movement through armed resistance and be called victors. The Kashmiri youth believed that just as the people of the West stood behind the Afghans, they would also line up in their support because Kashmir is a contentious and unresolved issue under UN resolutions.

Many of these young men had secretly participated in the Afghan jihad and had established contacts with Afghan commanders.

In political movements, sometimes there is a moment when they make the whole population or public opinion their ally. A similar moment came on December 8, 1989 when Rabia Saeed, the 23-year-old daughter of Indian Home Minister Mufti Muhammad Saeed, was abducted from Srinagar.

The alleged kidnappers, belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, a leading state in the sovereign state, demanded the release of Rabia Saeed, a medical college student, if five of their comrades were released.

After five days of negotiations, the government finally agreed to the kidnappers' demands. When the released militants appeared in the city of Srinagar, the vastness of Indian-administered Kashmir rose. There was celebration everywhere. For the first time, Kashmiri youth had a major victory against the Indian government. Several Indian analysts described it as the first victory of the separatists.

At that time, militant youths from Indian-administered Kashmir used to cross the border secretly to Pakistan-administered Kashmir. These caravans of young people would hide in the dense forests during the day and move westwards as the sun set.

As soon as dawn broke, they would enter Pakistan-administered Kashmir, where locals would see them with amazement and admiration. Suddenly, on Eid Gah Road in Muzaffarabad, a crowd of young people gathered in an old Jamaat-e-Islami building made of cedar wood and stone. Raqim Al-Huroof was a student at Karachi University in those days.

When the news of the arrival of Kashmiri youth was heard, he took a train ticket and reached Muzaffarabad.

Impressions are gained in a fluid, global, diffused way, with dark circles around the eyes due to blood clots and impulsive accents still fresh in my mind.

In the courtyard of the building, locals had gathered rations and cooked rice and meat for them by lighting a fire. Qazi Hussain Ahmed, the then Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, was attracted to Kashmiris because he was active in the 'jihad' against Russia in Afghanistan and had deep friendly relations with the Afghan Mujahideen organizations.

He went to Muzaffarabad and along with the local Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul Rashid Turabi met the Kashmiri youth whom he often referred to as 'Mujahideen'. Qazi Hussain Ahmed requested the then Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to arrange accommodation and food for the youth.

A hostel of Rawalpindi Medical College on Murree Road in Rawalpindi was evacuated overnight. This four-story building became the first home for these young people. Qazi Hussain Ahmed appealed to Pakistanis to go on a nationwide strike on February 5 to show solidarity with Kashmiris.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, president of Qazi Hussain Ahmed's ally and president of the Islamic Democratic Alliance, commonly known as the IJI, also backed the strike and announced a holiday in Punjab.

In those days, the IJI and opposition parties never tired of calling Benazir Bhutto anti-Kashmir and pro-India. When Benazir Bhutto took over as Prime Minister for the first time on December 2, 1988, the fourth SAARC Conference was to be held in Islamabad just four weeks later. Benazir Bhutto and Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi wanted to usher in a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi arrived in Islamabad to attend the SAARC Conference. He was the second Prime Minister to visit Pakistan after his grandfather Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Opponents of the government allege that the signboards of Kashmir House, a few furlongs from the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, were taken down on the orders of Benazir Bhutto. On December 31, the Prime Ministers of the two countries addressed a joint press conference where Rajiv Gandhi, in response to a question, said, “There is no question of a referendum on Kashmir. Kashmiris have decided their future in the elections.

Benazir Bhutto is said to have remained silent on this reply as she knew that the Indian Prime Minister had completely refused to discuss Kashmir in the meetings between the two leaders. She wanted the spirit and atmosphere of reconciliation to remain. After that, the opposition just got another chance to target Benazir Bhutto and prove her 'pro-India'.

Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was sharply criticized in articles, columns and commentaries published in anti-government magazines and journals. He was accused of "selling Kashmir".Against this backdrop, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto saw that the call for a nationwide strike on February 5 was being made by the opposition parties, so they too became part of it.

He not only announced a nationwide strike and a public holiday, but also addressed a rally in Muzaffarabad, saying: "We will kill Jagmohan (Governor of Indian-administered Kashmir) by making him runaway."

During his impassioned speech, the same slogan echoed from the hall: "What we want is freedom." In a single leap, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto turned her attention to the criticism of her opponents and emerged as a major pioneer of the Kashmir cause. Even today Kashmiris remember his services and personality with love and devotion.

A few months later, palace conspiracies ousted Benazir Bhutto from power. The IJI government was formed under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

Kashmir was a major axis of Qazi Hussain Ahmed's political heat at that time. Every year on February 5 there would be a nationwide strike and a joint session of the Assembly and Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad, usually addressed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan or the President. The history of Kashmiris' expression of solidarity is not only so long but it has deep roots in history.

The year 1931 is considered as the year of political upheaval in the history of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the year of political movements against the personal rule of Maharaja Hari Singh.

During a Friday sermon in April, the imam of the mosque was addressing the issue of Pharaoh's mistreatment of the Israelites by the ruler of Egypt. May provoke rebellion against the government ofA few weeks later, two alleged blasphemy incidents took place in June in Jammu Jail and a few days later in Srinagar. These two alleged incidents caused a wave of unrest among the Muslims of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Researcher Rasheed Taseer writes that there was a huge wave of protests in Srinagar against these incidents.

Abdul Qadeer Khan, a young man from the northeastern Frontier Province who was staying in Srinagar with a British tourist in those days, suddenly appeared in a protest and pointed to the Maharaja's palace and said that the protest would do nothing. 'Set fire to this palace. We don't have weapons, but we have stones and bricks.

Abdul Qadir's speech was a harbinger of a major storm that changed the face of Kashmiri politics. Abdul Qadeer Khan was arrested for spreading sedition. Abdul Qadir's speech created an incredible wave of awakening among Kashmiri Muslims. Hundreds of people used to gather outside the court to catch a glimpse of Abdul Qadeer Khan. Qadeer Khan's case was also being discussed on July 13, 1931 when a mob of people came to Amand.

A significant number managed to enter the court premises and a large number remained outside.

At the time of Zuhr prayer, the police and protesters began to start the firing soon. Twenty-one people died on the spot and were buried together in one place. This cemetery is called 'Mazar-e-Shuhada' and every year the anniversary of these martyrs is celebrated with great devotion and respect in both parts of the Line of Control. The news spread like wildfire in India and especially in Punjab. Protests took place in several cities, including Amritsar, Lahore, Lucknow and Delhi, in solidarity with the government of Maharaja Hari Singh and the Kashmiris. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was also among the protesters.

The All India Kashmir Committee was formed on the initiative of Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmood, the leader of Ahmadiyya Jamaat.

Allama Iqbal was also a member of this committee and later he was also made the head of the committee. Although the Hindu Press vehemently opposed the formation of the committee, the committee collected donations to help Kashmiris and hired qualified lawyers, including Sir Zafarullah Khan, Pakistan's first foreign minister.
