A London jury has found Mohammad Gohar Khan, a British man, guilty of plotting to assassinate Ahmed Waqas Goraya, a Pakistani blogger based in the Netherlands.
The jury in a unanimous verdict found Gohar Khan guilty. The convict will be sentenced in March.
Mohammad Gohar Khan, a British man, was accused of plotting to assassinate Dutch-based blogger Waqas Goraya as a hired assassin and had traveled to the Netherlands for that purpose.
The British man had stated in his defense that he had no intention of killing Waqas Goraya and was only trying to extort some money from the man who had successfully run his cargo business to destroy the business. I was instrumental. Gohar Khan had told the court that a person named Muzammil who had approached him had been working as a delivery agent in Pakistan for his cargo business. Mr Muzammil has also been called Mr Middles and Papa in the case.

I don't know who wanted to kill Waqas Goraya in Pakistan, accused's statement in court
The prosecution had told the court that Mr. Muzammil, who had been introducing Gohar Khan to another person by the name of Mr. Z as his boss, found out that it was Mr. Muzammil who had forged his identity.
Gohar Khan had said in response to a question that he did not know where the money of one lakh British pounds was coming from nor did he try to find out because he was sure that no one in Pakistan had that much money. ۔Muhammad Gohar Khan, a British man, also used three different names Gohar, Mash (Mushtaq) and Mr G to refer to Mr Muzammil.
Muhammad
Gohar Khan's position before the court was that he wanted to tell Muzammil that
he had a squad to complete the project with which he had gone to the
Netherlands.
Muhammad
Khan, a British man, had a position before the court that he had no interest in
Pakistani politics and he did not know Ahmed Waqas Goraya nor did he ever try
to get to know him.
The prosecution argued that the accused Gohar Khan was a 'habitual liar' and a debt-ridden man who had agreed to become a hired assassin in the lure of a million British pounds.
The prosecution argued that Gohar Khan had been lured into believing that if he had killed blogger Waqas Goraya in the Netherlands, he could be given more jobs in Europe. No further such "projects" were explained at any point during the trial.
However,
Gohar Khan's position has been that he did not show any interest in further
opportunities as he had no intention of completing the earlier work.
